Geco - Marlin 2. September - 7. October 1998
The Storm "Georges" and its movement was posted on the board as well as tracked on the net. |

Starting off with
Bourbon street due to weather. The bus left early the next morning for
crew change out of a nearby port starting with the letter F. Our crew is
the lucky one, we haven't had to stay onboard a single extra day. Thank
you for letting us having one last fun night out before going back to
work! The weather didn't stop there. Georges
was tracked down on internet and we got really well at finding new
internet addresses for new information of its position.

Finally it went straight for our prospect and we had to pick up the gear and head west. It was spooky being on the bridge watching the clouds on the radar and the lights from other seismic vessels picking up their gear few hundred meters away. | The Norwegian newspaper
VG
(as the World is going) had a little story on the two Norwegians onboard.
I was complaining to them why they didn't have anything on
"Georges" and they replied with questions and wanted pictures as
well.

My local newspaper from Hamar in Norway,
Hamar
dagblad, sent me
more questions I had to answer. The whole Acquisition dept. got on the front
page with the title: Line (my name) rides off the storm Georges! Luckily I
am not living in Hamar for the moment.

The trip was also in the name of earth failures and they were often to be found at the tail of the 10km streamer! But there were also occasions where it disappeared for a while, once a week towards the weekend seemed to be standard for back deck work. |
Did we get bad data Rob or was it ship noise from the other crew? |
